Recent studies have linked excessive use of vitamin E to heart related birth defects. Although not at the same level as consumption, the skin does absorb the nutrients that we put on it. Earth Mama’s stretch oil and body butter both list Vitamin E as an ingredient. When I contacted Earth Mama to request that they remove Vitamin E from their formulas, Melanie from the company assured me that they stopped formulating products with vitamin E several years ago, stating that the product lasts longer when it doesn’t contain an antioxidant. I went to my local healthfood store to confirm, but all the product labels show vitamin e (tocopherol) as an ingredient. When I viewed their Amazon pages, the Amazon pages also listed vitamin E as an ingredient.
Although I love their products, I will discontinue the use of their Earth Mama and Angel Baby products as I no longer feel that the company is providing reliable information to consumers. Even though there are no current studies linking use of TOPICAL vitamin E and birth defects, the company’s claim that they no longer use it as an ingredient while still listing it on their labels as one makes me question their practices.

Nice stretch oil! It smells pleasant but not too strong.
I used it throughout my first pregnancy and didn’t develop any stretch marks until ~38 weeks. (Don’t forget to put it on expanding thighs and breasts too!) Nothing will completely prevent stretch marks as they are largely a genentic trait, but I think the oil helped minimize the severity. Drinking lots of water helps keep your skin hydrated too.
All that said, this was a little pricey. There are cheaper products that are likely just as effective, but I appreciate the organic ingredients. I would use this again as well as the awesome New Mama Bottom Spray from this company.

I used this oil last time I was pregnant and I have no stretch marks. The price is the same here as it is through Earth Mama Angel Baby; however, you get free shipping here if you spend $25. I recommend buying at least two bottles…you’ll go through a lot of it in the last few months when your belly is large!

It Actually worked. I used this starting at about 12 weeks and only once a day due to the cost. I was large by the end of the pregnancy (measuring two weeks ahead)and I had no stretch marks. This was recommended to me by a friend who used it and also had no stretch marks.

It’s very moisturizing & absorbs quickly. Love the scent and the fact that it’s non-toxic. Whether or not it prevents stretch marks is yet to be seen as I’m only 15 weeks pregnant–I’ll hope for the best.
