Question by Emma&Laura’sMumMum: What do you think about Baby Sign Language/Language Development?
Just curious…..I thought about teaching Emma sign language and my mother mentioned something about it interferring with her ability to speak. I really just never got around to teaching her. Anyways now she 11 months old and communicates with about a dozen words and by pointing. I just wonder if she would be so vocal if we had done sign language. What is your experience?

I taught my son sign language and it helped us so much with tantrums. Teach Emma the signs but also make sure you teach the words too so when she signs to you have her use both and you use both too! Good Luck!

Question by J’sM: Sleeping Problems With Baby??? Anyone Think They Can Help?
My son is a lil over 8 weeks old and hasn’t been sleeping very well throughout the night! I’ve had a constant nightly routine with him for 4 weeks now, because I’ve heard that will make a baby more comfortable and sleep better, however his schedule is so messed up, one night he will sleep great, lay him down around 10 and sleep til 3am then the next night, lay him down at 10 up around midnight, 1 and 3 and then stay awake the rest of the morning…
He doesnt have gas, He’s not always hungry, diaper is good, room temp is perfect, He eats well before bed…
Im just confused, why doesn’t he have a sleeping pattern yet? Just when I think I’m getting somewhere, he shows me different!
I’ve tried bathing him before giving him his last bottle for the night…didnt work!
And the things that I’ve tried that made him sleep long one night, doesnt work for the next night….Im so confused!!!
Basically I want to know if any other mothers had this problem??? And how long did it take to develope a pattern? Any suggestions to helping him sleep better?
More formula doesnt help
Bath doesnt help
I’ve had a constant routine with him, lights down low in his bedroom, rocking to soothe him while feeding him his last bottle, same sleep position each time (wont fall asleep any other way)!
And I cant get him too hot, so swaddling doesn’t work for him, he sweats!
Anyone think they can help?

the only other thing i can think of is maybe getting a white noise machine. other than that, i would suggest you talk to your ped. and see what he/she says. good luck!

Do you think that it’s “ok” to breast feed or give your baby breast milk, if you have a highly contagious illness or disease? I’m talking about chicken pox, pneumonia, influenza etc. My husband’s co-worker (she’s a woman) thinks that it’s “ok” to breast feed your baby even if you have a contagious illness. I didn’t argue with her. I’m 100% in support of breast feeding, but I think there should be a line drawn between the “right” to breast feed, and the health & well being of your baby. So give me your opinion.

I’d think with all the information about risks of STI’s and pregnancy, teenagers would be more careful about sexual intercourse. But then agian, I guess people make wrong decisions when their under the influence of drugs and alcohol.
So what are you opinions on this?

Some parents let their babies cry it out way too early, when parts of the brain that should understand the parents actions is way too immature… Could this cause a baby any injuries other than distress? Has a baby ever choked or suffocated in some way during a crying spell?
i dont plan on letting my 3 month old cry it out… but sometimes i’m so tempted, i just need some info on this.. Thanks!
